Social media image sizes (2026)

The sizes to export for each platform, with a one-click resizer for every row.

Updated:

Platforms rarely publish one definitive list, and they adjust their layouts often. The sizes below are the ones most commonly recommended as of November 2026, cross-checked across several up-to-date guides and the platforms' own help pages where available. Each row links to a resizer preset that produces exactly that size.

Why upload larger than the display size

Phones and laptops have high-density screens that show two or three device pixels per layout pixel. An image uploaded at exactly its display size looks soft on them. Uploading around twice the display size (as in the cover and profile presets) keeps it sharp, while platforms recompress anything far bigger.

Keep important things in the middle

Most platforms crop differently on phones, tablets and computers, and profile pictures are shown as circles. Keep faces, logos and text in the central area and use "Fit without cropping" when the whole picture must stay visible.

Questions

What is the best size for an Instagram post in 2026?

1080 × 1350 px (4:5 portrait) takes up the most space in the feed. The profile grid previews posts at 3:4, so keep the subject away from the very top and bottom.

What size is a YouTube thumbnail?

1280 × 720 px (16:9), with a minimum width of 640 px.
