Exam photo and signature requirements (India, 2026)

Upload sizes for the main exams and ID forms in one table, with the source for each.

Updated:

Every exam portal sets its own limits, and they change between notices. This table collects the current requirements with a confidence level: high means we read the official notice, medium means several sources agree on what the notice says, and low means sources disagree. Each name links to a resizer with presets for that exam.

The same data is available as a public dataset (JSON) that you are welcome to reuse with a link.

Common reasons uploads fail

The file is a few kilobytes over the limit, the photo is the wrong shape (full-length instead of passport style), the signature is faint on grey paper, or the file is under a minimum size. The resizer pages handle the size, shape and minimum automatically; the photo itself must still follow the background and pose rules.

Several exams (NEET, JEE, UPSC, SSC, IBPS, SBI) now also capture a live photo during the application, so use a recent photo that looks like you today.

Questions

Why do different websites list different sizes for the same exam?

Many copy older notices. Limits change from year to year, and some notices even contradict themselves. We list the official figure where we could read it and say so when we could not.
