Checked 2026-11-03. The official notice could not be read directly; values are those attributed to it by several sources that agree. Indian missions in Milan and Islamabad give 10 KB to 300 KB for the regular visa photo. The e-Visa limit is reported as 10 KB to 1 MB, but one official source also gives 300 KB. Both presets stay under 300 KB and within 350 to 1000 pixels, which meets every version. Always check the latest official instructions before submitting.

    Questions

Why does the India visa site reject my photo?

Most rejections are about shape: the photo has to be square, and a normal passport photo is taller than it is wide. Others are a file over 300 KB on the regular form, a file under 10 KB after heavy compression, or a PNG instead of a JPEG. Both presets output a square JPEG between 10 KB and 300 KB.

My file comes out smaller than the minimum. What happens?

Where there is a minimum, the tool first saves at top quality and then adds padding data that image viewers ignore, so the picture is unchanged and the file meets the minimum.

    How accurate are these requirements?

The official notice could not be read directly; values are those attributed to it by several sources that agree. Rules can change with each new notice, so compare with the official instructions linked on this page.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs in your browser, so your photo and signature stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to share a file by link. That matters for ID documents. If your device can't handle an image, the tool can shrink it on our server instead, but only if you agree, and it is deleted right away.
