Questions
Why is the ACT preset 960 × 1200 and not 640 × 480?
ACT asks for a portrait photo of at least 640 × 480 pixels. 960 × 1200 is portrait and larger than 640 on both sides, so it meets the minimum however it is measured, and stays far below 5 MB.
My iPhone photo will not upload to ACT. Why?
iPhones save HEIC files, and ACT accepts only JPG, JPEG, PNG or BMP. The preset saves a JPG.
My file comes out smaller than the minimum. What happens?
Where there is a minimum, the tool first saves at top quality and then adds padding data that image viewers ignore, so the picture is unchanged and the file meets the minimum.
How accurate are these requirements?
Taken from the official notice or government page listed below. Rules can change with each new notice, so compare with the official instructions linked on this page.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs in your browser, so your photo and signature stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to share a file by link. That matters for ID documents. If your device can't handle an image, the tool can shrink it on our server instead, but only if you agree, and it is deleted right away.
